Yeh download the lastest from the Ubuntu website. latest is Ubuntu 7.04 (april 2007 hence the 7.04)
Its not easy to configure. if you have more then one hard disk you need to correct the partinations in expert mode when installing so you dont lose your data.
If you start to use it you have to be very willing to learn and do research it isnt the same as window. you cant just expect it to work. You have to make it work. very rewarding and when running perfect runs miles better then windows.

I find linux to confusing as im just to used to using windows, i know it has its faults but just more user friendly. My dad has well hundreds of dvds with all types of different linux's. As they dont crash got more functions on them etc.

Your rigs getting on a bit? lol!
Mine was bought over 4 years ago and it was top of the range then, cost me a grand just for the tower lol.
AMD Athlon 2600+ running at 2.08Ghz
1 Gig DDR ram
Radeon 9600 Pro 256Mb AGP.
Asrock motherboard, dunno what spec lol.
500W PSU.
140Gb hard drive which has 1.4 gig free on it lol
I had to replace the motherboard and PSU after I bought a 6600GT graphics card and it melted to the motherboard because my PSU wasnt powerful enough, expensive lesson learnt there! So I bought a thermaltake Soprano case as well, looks good with the blue LED fans in it. It still runs FEAR at a decent setting too, which aint bad for a pc over 4 year old! Its needing replaced with a dual/quad core beast soon though.
