Alpine T222 or higher RMS but cheaper amp

Was over at Bass Junkies and thought I'd pop a question asking if they'd recommend the Alpine T222 with a set of JBL GTO 507c comps, the answer I got was 'get a lesser brand amp with more RMS', is this way to go or not? or is trying to pass on a amp he makes more of a margain on?

Amp capable of: -

RMS Power Per channel into 4 ohms: 50W x 2 (0.08% THD)
RMS Power Per channel into 2 ohms: 70W x 2 (0.3%)

Comps capable of: -

RMS Power Handling - 55 Watts
