Good setup?
Hi
Got a VTR 02
Has team dynamics pro race 3's
Been lowered 40mm on Spax Vsx kit
Now I've chosen to go for braking before all out engine!
Its not a track car, just 'fast road'
I was looking for advice on the best setup?
I've seen the brake kits on kamracing and wondered if they're suitable? Any experience?
I'm not planning to spend the thousands on a brembo/wilwood/Alcon setup
Just looking at like black diamond/mintex stuff?
Drilled/grooved/combi discs?
Just looking for what you guys recommend?

Im feeling the same and since my front pads need more meat on them, then I could do with getting new!
But thought a whole setup would be better than just updated pads!

Pads wise Mintex 1144's are awesome. Brake setup wise it depends what your budget is. You could go all out and get 4 pots (Hi-spec, Wilwoods, Brembos etc) but they are pricey unless some come up second hand and even then you'll be looking at £250-350 for a full setup most of the time. (there are some in the FS section as said). Other alternatives are the 266mm 206 setup or the 283mm 306 GTI-6 setup. If your on a budget the GTI-6 setup with some 1144's (or other good pads) and some good brake fluid will be more than enough

Have spotted those pads around so will probably invest in those
Discs wise, go for Peugeot? Or choose drilled/grooved black diamonds?
I can't access the FS yet but am working my way there!
Can't put 'thanks' on your post - so - THANKS

Yeah they are great pads i'm running them on my hi-specs. Disc wise i'm not too clued up on them tbh.. I bought my hi-spec setup which came with brand new discs so i've never had to shop around for discs. Someone on here will be able to advise though - No worries.

Id get either 266mm Bosche 206 Calipers or Hispecs, wilwoods etc depending on your budget.
Id ignore the 283mm single pot setups as theyre stupidly heavy. I had to weigh my old 283 GTI180s which are heavier then GT6 and they were silly.

Nice amount of unsprung mass there for hardly any advantage over the 266's. thats like adding another wheel and tyre on each side so you have 4 wheels on the front.

Mintex pads sound like the good choice
It's those discs that matter now
I'm not too fussed about changing the calipers if I'm honest
Pads/discs/fluid is probable port of call!

Personally think spending money on discs and pads on the standard setup is false economics and standard brakes are a waste of time. For the sake of £40-£60 for 266mm calipers which occasionally have discs and pads if just do that.

So look for a full setup
266mm seems a popular size too!

266mm 206GTI/HDI calipers with decent discs and pads will be plenty and prbably cheaper than spending loads on super awesome discs and pads for the standard set up.

any form of 4pots is major over kill on a car that won't see track.
they sure do look cool though...
266mm brakes will be more than appropriate for your use. EBC yellow stuff pads are made of win too
