well, second gen PS3's can't play PS2 discs although can play PS2 content through emulation
I've got a first gen PS3 60GB and it plays PS2 discs my mates slim doesn't nor does his 80GB
I find that you comprimise reliability on first Gen to have slightly better features. This is how playstation have done it in the past.
PS2 had the hard drive thing, and the second gen slim didn't etc. shit idunno lol
Sony can't really afford not to put in emulation - unless they force games to be very cheap.

As long as Microsoft build the New Xbox like the first one and not the 360, all is good. The compact layout and SHIT airflow of the white / elite 360's was appauling.
