Rattle can wheel spraying
Just got myself some 205 GTi alloys which are sprayed in gunmetal but considering spraying them Satin Black instead.. not sprayed alloys before so basically can you get a half decent job from using rattle cans if you put in some time prepping?
Also what paints to use? just bodywork paint or actual wheel paint I've seen on ebay?

These loads of guides in here mate jus hit a search
I used Halfords gloss black when I did my vtr wheels
As you said prep is everything it's fairly easy make sure the paint is warm when u spray and lacquer and do or pref indoors

I did my 205's and took for ever to rub down and get right before paint. but in the end came out really well in my eyes maybe not pro job but came out perfect for what I wanted. long as you take your time it will come out just fine.

yes can be done, i done my vts's myself, one thing i would suggest is Upol primer, great stuff (unless others suggest any better) would spray on nice hot day, sounds strange but i may be tempted to spray in a cheap tent, wear a mask ect, reason being flys ect getting into your paint lol, if i refurb another set i think i may try it lol.

Thanks for help guys, I have a garage so will do it in there and on a hot day if we get one!
One other thing... would you still use lacquer if using a satin or a matt black?

Nope dont need to lacquer satin / matt - you can get matte finish lacquer but you dont "need" it..

Its all in the prep, you can make a decent job with rattle cans. Just make sure you spray nice even coats of paint

Its never going to look as nice as a proper job or powder coat but you can get a reasonable finish if you take your time. Did my old set of 205 gtis in grey and they looked alright, the guy who bought them was happy anyway

I rattle canned mine about a year ago...
Was impressed with the results tbh
i used halfords gloss black too.
Decent refurbs on wheels are all down to the prep work.
Follow the guide on here......

Took my turinis off the 182 to get em refurbed, so i went back on to my 182 wheels..
they were abit of a mess, so as a quick fix just to use em temp, i sprayed them matte black with rattle cans, no prep at all other then a good clean / scrub!!
primered, and sprayed black..
But i didnt really like it! so i washed them, quick scrub, and resprayed them BMW sparkling graphite, and Lacquered them
See, much nicer!
^Off-topic, but i hammerited the calipers gold, as the previous red was shocking
Not looking for a perfect finish, as im using them temporarily while i refurb the turinis, but they look tidy enough for rattle cans!

Massively impressed with these DIY efforts, can't wait to clear some room in the garage and get started!
Luckily mine don't have tyres on so saves masking!!
Anymore pics guys?

Literally any spray paint you can find, doesnt matter.. obviously the more time you spend on prep work, the better the results will be
