Cool Headlights

Evening all thinking about swapping my headlights for some angel eyes or blacking out the surround and getting HIDs. Iv heard that HIDs will melt the plastic lense on angel eyes so, i was wondering if anyone has ever tried to fit the original glass lense onto the angel eye units? Best of both worlds then surely?
