The semi straight cut box is known as a semi hellical box and the straight cut box is a hellical box wich gives better drive in gear but as said the noise is proper whiney and loud but goes well with one in

£3000+ for the quiafe straight cut dogbox and thats just the internals!
I don't know anywhere that sells a straight cut synchro box. If you can find one it won't be cheap. The advantage is better gear efficiency - approximatly 80% for helical gears and about 90% for straight cut... I guess semi-helical will be somewhere between the two.
Reverse gear is straight cut! That should give you some idea of the whine you will get though it won't be as loud on forward gears.
