Mmm...
Not sure what to suggest to be hnest mate!
Cant think why it wouldnt work even though all the fuses are in tact!
Right, take the wires back out of the switch, then attatch your yellow wire to one of the wires from the switch.
Then you need to attach your black wire to the chassis of the car. (earth)
See if the head unit comes on!
If it doesnt, put the yellow wire on the other wire in the door switch and see if that works!
Let me know how you get on mate.
Im sure we can sort this out

Right, some Good news, and some bad news.
The good news is, I haven't broken them, when you put the switch back in, you have to screw the torx screw back in for it to work again, I hadn't done this, and thought I broken it.
The bad news is, because of this, I can't put the wire going from the yellow, into the switch, and then put the switch back in the door, because its such a tight squeeze, and there is no room for a wire..
Any ideas?
I beginning to think maybe I should give up, wasting your time and mine Lol..

or connect the driver side neon, to do the passenger side wires, where u connected the passenger neon wires too.. im sure it would work, but im no electrician.. lol...
Carl...
i hope you ge this to work, coz i fancy doin this to my car too ... bought some neons the other day lol.

Yep they're both working.

Ahh right! Glad theyre working! lol
What you would need to do is...
Splice into the wires to get the power from the switch to the light, but you dont want to be doing this if you dont even know whether the light is switched live or earth!
Take the switch out, pull the connector out, then put one of the wires to the yellow wire on the head unit.
Then put the black one from the H.U on the chassis.
Let me know if the unit powers up

Okay this is what I did:
(From the Yellow)
This is the Cable Connected to the Chassis, is this right?
(From the Black)
No luck, its not powering up..

Mmm...
Rather than using the yellow wire, try the red one on the head unit.
Make sure that the red HU wire is going to the switch wire, and the black HU wire is going to earth. And also, you have earthed it to plastic i think. Try putting the black cable on that big bolt i can see on top of the hinge.
If it still doesnt work, then put the red wire to the other switch wire...

I think youve earthed to painted metal mate. that could be the reason for it not powering up possibly.

Not being funny, but surely all he's gotta do is wire up the earth to cigerette lighter, or bare metal etc etc.. and then run the positive wire to the positive on the door switch, fix them in place, job's a good'un???
Ah the joys of electrics, it would help you out loads if you had a volt meter mate... try and borrow one from somewhere. Would save you a lot of time not just on this, but on any future mod's you may be doing.

Yes, thats correct mate. Appart from the earth bit. Why would the cigarette lighter come into it?
But we dont know if the door switch is a switched earth or switched live you see!

Thats why i said "Cigerette Lighter OR Bare Metal" using examples of earths basically... LOL, no drama
I see what your saying yeah, if thats the case, why doesnt he just extend both wires to the lengh he needs and use both the + and - of the door switch instead?? He cant go wrong then surely, or am i missing something?

Because the door will be either a switched live or a switched earth.
Therefore the wires going in and coming out of the door switch will be of the same polarity, but we dont know which! And we dont want him to blow up his new neon or burn out his car wiring.
He needs a multimeter ftw!
