still considering the SPL subs though, as you know SQ is more my game, rather than pure output

But at the same time you dont want to spend a good few hundred quid on your gear, then, go out with your mates you get shamed by a ripspeed system! Lol!
Those JBL's sound luurrvly and they get loud too! They're also one of the most efficient subs out there!

Ive got the perfect sub for you as it goes!
Give me a minute...
EDIT : What A Bargain!!!
Dual 1 ohm, so it will run your amp at full tilt, it will give you awesome SQ, as did my 12", and it will go fooking loud and lap up 1200rms with ease in a fairly small (1.8cuft) ported box!!

soooooo tempted..
guna have to arrange something with the boot space though.. cba with a false floor, so ideally would like both amps in boot with the box.. is it possible ?

Yes! You could get 2cuft in a saxo, with 2 amps and still have space left for a loaf of bread and a bottle of coke!
False floors are for fannies anyway! Lol!
It only needs 2.0cuft if you port it anyway! Tuned to 34hz it will sing!
But please note, this sub wont sound very nice sealed! It needs a real box!
Buy it!!!

22" long, 13" high, 12" wide, with 0.75" mdf equates to 2cuft. 3" round port, 5.25" long is 34hz tuning.
That will easily go in a saxo and will sound the bee's knees!

sounds about right
my current box is around 50cm wide, and can just about fit 2 amps either side
id be able to make the box bigger in width though and make it thinner in lentgh (from side to side) to make it fit though right? obv make sure i calculate it right to acheive same volume
