Its not uncommon. Odd are its over heated or been dropped. I am going with over heated as it looks to be living on a radiator and have other electrical items on top and under. Really all modern games systems you want to keep some place cool and keep the air vents well clear. As you have just got the thing they will replace it free of charge. People can often fix the red rings of death but most people make a hash of it. People tend to fix and then sell them on. Your best to avoid used systems unless you really know what your, Same goes for PS3s as Xboxs as there even more brittle and likely to have been botched.

Ive had it for ages so will have to send it off.
As for the radiator its rarely ever on and all the vents etc have plenty of space.
Plus its not been used really

If its out of warranty you can have a go at fixing it your self. I am going to work now so will not be able to fish out the guide until tonight. Some one else may be able to post it for you. It may just have got it self full of dust or something. I think there is a lad on here actually who fixed them for next to nothing. Forget who it is though.
