Default Do you take breaks from training ?

Any of you take breaks from your trainig ?
What I mean for example, do you ever have a break from your routine? If your training weights 4x per week do you ever have a week off ?

Been reading that its good to take a break from training, let the muscles fully rest and recover aswell as giving you and your mind a some time out then re-focusing with renewed motivation for when you return to training.

Also because this week ive done no weights atall (first time since january), just really cant be bothered to be honest, done a couple runs though. Just thought maybe i'd use it as a rest week.

The reason you feel pumped after having a week off is due to glycogen levels in the muscle been full.

Everytime you train you deplete glycogen which is why competetve bodybuilders do not train for the last 3-4 days before a show as they are trying to carb up for that full/dry look.

I periodise my training from low volume/heavy weights to high volume/moderate weights every 8 weeks.

I also take a couple of week long breaks from the gym throughout the year as i feel i need them.

Sometimes a week off gives you that extra pump you need
