Default I'm a fat noob..

I go on holiday in 8 weeks. I'm 13 stone and just a touch under 6 foot. I'm not exactly fat but definately need to shift some pounds. I've kinda sorted my diet out and training and I've been dieting for 1 week and a bit already.
Only thing I wanted to ask advice about was that a mate said today that he doubts I won't make a significant difference in 9 weeks but I reckon that's bollocks because even if you lost 2 pounds a week, that's 18 pounds in 9 weeks so way over a stone.
With a good diet and regular cardio, such as swimming, and weight training, do you reckon I can lose it in 8 weeks? I don't think I even need to lose a stone tbh.

You can loose some obv,the only thing to be careful of is if you loose it too quickly,by drastically cutting carbs etc, when you start to eat again you will start to put it back on.

Cheers for the replies, as I said I'm a noob with health & fitness.
Is swimming 3 times a week a good fat burning exercise? I'm gonna be in the gym doing weights 3 times a week and was thinking maybe a half an hour swim after would be beneficial?

Well just look at 50 cent LOL 9 week liquid diet and he lost around 5 stone!

Weights wont shift the fat like, and id swim for longer than half an hour

you need hardcore cardio mate

an hour on the treadmill or bike.

Im busy doing physio atm after busting my knee and he's got me skipping, might look gay but it doesnt half kill you
