There is no specific measurement that you can/cant get away with
Wheel width and tyre size along with offset all play a part.
Some people get rubbing with 15's without lowering atall on a flat arch, yet others can lower without having any issues atall.

Your issue will be because the VTR alloys were made to the specific offset of the VTR/VTS which has a slightly wider rear beam (approx 5mm each side) so these wheels on a narrower drum beam will mean that your wheel is sitting too close into the arch.
This can be easily corrected by some dirt cheap 3mm halfords type spacers, or if you want to be sure then 5mm will also do fine.

How far can you lower without it affecting your insurance btw?
Soon to get a Furio and intend on lowering it, w/o my insurance sky rocketing! I'm only 17 and no NCB :'(

Any lowering declared will most likely affect your insurance at 17 if declared, which it should be

Your insurance will not pay out if you crash and have stickers etc. on your car so lowering it is a sure bet to raise it!

Obv it's different with different companies but mine (admiral) told me that only performance mods would affect it. I have aftermarket front and rear lights, grill, and window tints and they don't mind. The only exception things like big exhausts/cone filters etc which make it seem to have higher performance and therefore people will wanna nick it lol.
That said, obviously lowering it raises ur insurance so tell them!

You missed my point- of course they will pay out if you have declared it and they have said its ok
If you dont declare it i can guarrantee you an insurance company wont pay out if you have chavvy stickers on it, happened to a friend of mine, which is why i told him to make sure he declared the lowering to find out!
