I don't run pas in my ek9 and the saxo and both cars feel less twitchy and more responsive on track as well as on the road. Imo it should be the first mod undertaken on a saxo with a track set up.

The non-pas rack is a lot "quicker", if you get what I mean. Plus you need to remove the pump and all the plumbing , otherwise you work the pump as well when you steer.

mandyslover told me to PM him in a couple of months, says he usually has some in. Just check round some local scrappers.
A mate of mine once had a 1.1 without power steering as a courtesy car when his VTR was being repaired, it was about 8 years ago mind! But I remember it being not much different due to the light weight, just a bit stiffer when stood.
I had a bash in Nij's saxo once who's pump had packed in and was like trying to steer a tank!

you cant just get the rack mate you need the 1.1 pedal box and the 1.1 steering column as there all different to the vtr/vts. your best bet is to remove your pas rack and strip it of all the pas equipment and block the holes with steel caps without the caps covering the holes the car will/can fail the mot depending on the bloke who does the test.
the pas has faster gearing so is better for track use and easier on the arms when stripped and pump removed that is.

Yup Yup. Cant just bung a non PAS rack in, need column and pedal box. Learnt from my mistakes, ive just installed another PAS rack with it all drained. Need to bung it up with some bolts or caps now.
PAS rack is quicker than a nonPAS too. Think the AX GT has a quicker rack or something, almost similar to the quaife quick racks though not 100% on that!

pedal box is just a sort of metal cage that all the pedals bolt onto there different on a 1.1 i think its a different shape or the hole in it is different iirc. just not worth the hassle and the pas rack is a better rack once made non pas.

yes mate that's how I did my mate's some people say to remove a ram inside? i found that didn't need to do this as the ram isn't doing anything once there is no fluid in it any way's.
