Better bring this up to date...
I ordered some new 90mm trumpets from Jenvey
Then I decided I needed some of the nice cool air from the scuttle, so inspired by Tommy's car I got to work.
Bonnet off for easier drilling, wiper motor etc removed...
Bodies masked up and engine bay covered over as much as possible...
Borrowed a very handy tool...
First out was the bracket for the wiper motor, still going to run my wiper motor on this side, just going to run it on the top two bolts rather than using all 3, made a bit of a meal of it as it was hard to get a decent angle, but we got there...
Then I set about working out the centres for the holesaw, and drilled some pilot holes...
after adjusting my pilot holes a little to make sure I didn't drill through the seam I ended up with some metal discs...
and a couple of holes...
Then I decided instead of just doing 4 holes, I'd be much better making a full envelope, so out came the masking tape...
Covered up the car ready for grinding, more old bedsheets
5 minutes later I had a piece of metal, and a big hole.
Drilled some holes for some mesh, and touched in all the bare edges...
Then I made up a piece of mesh to stop larger bugs and leaves getting through, and put some edging round it to try and make it look a little neater...
Fitted the 90mm Jenvey trumpets after trimming the tapers at the top a little, and put the wiper motor and bonnet back on...
Should allow a nice bit of cool air through, and in my opinion looks much neater than just butchering a lump of the scuttle out
I also fit my new/old steering wheel. I sold my sparco wheel to seph when I had a phase where I was fed up of the car, but with him breaking his, I bought it back, well chuffed as it's part of the car I really missed, much better, just needs a clean...
