silver vtr paint
I'm really happy with the Saxo, apart from the paintwork. It looks a bit flat and I wondered what is the best way to get it looking How it should.

did mine a while back, paintcode EYCC.
have a look in my thread if you want to see what was done and what it looked like after.
http://www.saxperience.com/forum/sho...d.php?t=343872
spent a full day on it but not done that amount of work on it since, just a quick wash every week or so and then topped up sealant and wax toward end of summer ready for winter months, although im ashamed to admit I've neglected it this last winter.
on the plus side I've got an excuse to give her a full detail again when i'm off work in 2 week if the weathers fine

like this?
you need to polish, seal and wax it. Maybe clay too if you want to get rid of tar marks.
I use meguiars clay kit, Autoglym super resin polish, Auto glym clear gloss protection, collinite 476 wax - in that order
make sure you're washing it properly beforehand too
i literally took a whole day doing mine last time. Looked like it should have been in a showroom lol

After seeing the car, wash it all off pretty thoroughly, clay bar it, then go over it with some super resin polish. I use Autoglym at the moment and its great, but tbf, when it runs out i will just buy something else. Ive had turtle way and some dodo juice SRP previously and all have given a similar result to the eye.

Having read through, LSO does exactly what i do, i cant take ages but the results are good!
Looks better on a black car though, my silver VTR was never that rewarding to wash.

Amen to that :
I just use Bilt Hamber clay, Megs Gold Class shampoo, Autosmart polish and Collinite 476 on mine - no machining yet

Took two days to machine polish but it's a doddle to look after now. I should have done a before shot, it was full of seagull shite.
Snow foam, while that was working it's magic did the rubbers, badges, door shuts and wheels with the brushes.
Rinse
Snow foam and left for 20 minutes to work
Rinse
2 bucket method wash
Rinse
Dried
Tar remover applied
Rinsed
Another wash
Dried
Waxed and buffed

Cheers for the help guys, some cracking looking silver saxos out there.
Think I will try a machine polish initially, one of my friends has a valeting company. Will have to look into this snow foam, never heard of it.
I think some small areas wont come back as the laquer appears to have diminished

Snow foam doing it's job. Just a pre wash but looks cool as **** when the car is covered.
It drags the crap off the car, the foam when it drops off is minging.

Problem is I don't have a tap for a power washer, I take it you can't apply it by hand

Best to use a citrus pre wash then, really needs a lance on power washer to get the best out of it. There is a Gilmore snow gun but you still need a hose.

Mine went from this
to this
That was a quick clean with Turtle Wax car wash, Daisy APC in all the bits, then a buff with a DAS6 using Menzerna pads and polish. The gloss was insane on it considering I spent little time on it, its just not as immediately obvious as black.

You can get silver looking good, still it's hard to beat dark colours... just washed Daughter's Insignia (machined last year so a few swirls in it).
