Recomendations
Can anyone recomend me a good headunit, Im looking to spend about £150 (or less if I can get away with it obviously). It needs to have a few pre outs cos im looking to add at least one more amp (Ive got one already) to my system.
Cheers.

go with sony. i've got a fusion head unit (part of a whole fusion system) - can't connect another amp i dont think, but there's plent for more subs, speakers, and you can even plug AUX in - run your ipod or walkman phone through it!!!

I had a sony headunit in my Saxo, didnt make any difference at all sound quality wise.
My Alpine unit in my GTi though on the other hand has made such a difference in quality and its crisp finish. I have an Alpine 9855R, looking at £200+ for one of them but its worth every penny.

the 9850RI looks pretty decent but just over £150. Hope this helps a bit mate.

The improvement in sound quality with the Alpine units is really noticable. Speakers are much more clear in my 106.
Even more proof of this is the fact my Girlfriend also has the exact same unit (9855R) in her Zetec S. Again sound quality has been massively improved.
I cant say about the newer Sony headunits but the one I had 2 years ago I wasnt impressed with at all. Cost me just over £200 from Halfords so wasnt shit money.
Maybe I had a dud one..?

You will find that any aftermarket headunit will make standard car speakers sound better. Its for the simple reason that an aftermarket headunit puts out about three times the power of a factory fit one.
Personally mate I would not touch a sony headunit.
This is what I would spend my money on and put the rest towards the rest of your system. http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/prod...a5eb02d9e7330b

Theres no need for rear speakers. Audio is recorded in stereo thats a left and a right channel. Anyone who knows about car audio knows that rear speakers actully reduce the quailty of the sound.

mate u get more sound with 4 channels as appose to two.... if rear channels ruined sound then all the top-notch designers such as alpine etc would make 2 channel head units...

take your own advice. Sound is recorded in left and right, not front and back. The channels you are talking about are completely different.
