Same as most of the others. But has a 4.29 final drive.

As Toad said,
the ratios of a VTS, XSi, S1 box etc are all the same.
It's the final drive that differs, giving 'better' acceleration but less top speed achieved in each gear.

1) got it off adamhighfields friend
2) no
3) dunno
4) unlikely... I'm taking it off the road in august as the insurance runs out, I'm moving into a house with street parking, so there is no way in hell I'm keeping the car there. so it's going SORN and it's going to live in the garage at sayer towers.

copying? Now I'm used to the 'copying' allegations about yates' car, which I can't be arsed to defend anymore but yes, it's true, I'm copying yates'
man everyone is going mad over the LSD... we'll see.

VTS 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5t... just the final drive is different... 4.29 for the XSI and 3.938 for the VTS... it works out as being 10% faster acceleration

i didnt realise that there would be a 10% increase in acceleration (approx) from fitting this box. Will await your comments once its fitted.

Shall you be speaking to Mankee about a full rebuild? I am contemplating wether to get the VTS box I have fully rebuilt with an ATB from Mankee, might as well change the final drive to an XSI if I did decide to go down that route....
P.S - Liking the updates Keep them coming!

I drove Yates' last year and as that was my first long drive outing in a VTS and that was awesome on the track... on the road... not so sure, you can tell that if you're giving it some it'll catch you out big time - but as you say, as upgrades go it's one of the best that can be done.

rebuild... well... the box is on 63k... so relatively low mileage, and doesn't feel clunky when turning by hand through the gears, with my lameo check it seems pretty good. But! I'm craving the change from the standard XSI 5th Gear, to a 5th Gear from a VTR.
1st - 4th remain part of the sports cluster for fun times, 5th for cruising.... as I spend most of my time (95%) cruising about (see my mpg), 5th gets used a lot so I may as well heighten it.
I know Mankee could do swap for the 5th's on later type boxes, but not so sure on earlier types.
so going from a:
3.938 FD and 0.85 5th (VTS)
to a
4.29 FD and a 0.85 5th yeilds (XSI) about a +325 rpm difference
4.29 FD and a 0.767 5th yeilds about a -50 rpm difference
so a total difference of 375rpm. doesn't sound a lot but as I spend most of my time in that gear it makes sense to use that as my mpg gear.
thoughts?
