You said ou had the 1201.1 JBL amp?
You could run 4 gt4's @ 4 ohms, which would put about 200rms into each sub, which tbh, is enough! Then at a later date, buy another amp, then you can rub 500rms into each sub!!! Then you're gonna be hitting some nice figures!
EDIT : You aint gonna get shit out of that amp streetbass wise! It will only do about 200rms bridged!
Granted it will be great for powering speakers, but not subs!

Build 2x of these boxes, one for each sub. Have the sub & port on the same face, and both facing upwards in the car.

1.75cuft? Seems a little small... But hey ho, if thats what it says then go with that. I suppose its only got a relatively small driver displacement.
I wreckon you should go with gt4's tbh mate. Theyre proven to give good results nd can be had for silly money!

Well thats fair enought then i suppose. JBL know what theyre doing!
MDF is pretty expensive! Especially the thick stuff!
You could have got BFUK to make you a pukka enclosure for about £40each posted.

I'd be tempted to make it from 25mm (1") MDF! 18mm just wont hold up to the forces and sheer pressure like 25mm will, and you will lose some of the sound due to the flex of the box. Cus for all the flexing of the box you are losing precious DB's!
Also, you would be best to make it double skinned with sound proofing in between the layers. This adds to the strength of the box even more and creates a vacuum between the wood giving more output and more rigidity. The inside of the box also needs to be very well braced and supported. This will also affect the final volume of the box, so it needs to be taken into account when cutting the wood. As you will need to add the displacement of the bracing wood onto the final volume.
Routing a radius on the port to create a flare will help to reduce any port noise and optimise the flow of air.
Another quick tip... Dont use screws to hold the sub in, use nuts and bolts! Just this can give up to a 1db increase in output.
