is your head unit earthed properly as if its not you may be trying to earth it down the rca leads. i have seen lots of radios just earthed down the aerial coax and this has corsed lots of problems.

Took the unit back after work, tested it in store and it worked perfectly.
Got a new head unit with a aux remote on cable (Sony)
Installed and again as soon as the RCA wire makes contact with the amp the fuse pops.
Even tried with nothing connected but the head unit power (Neg, Pos, Ignition Pos, Remote On) thinking maybe a speaker was shorting. Same fuse popping fun!
I have a boot full of dead fuses!

How do I earth it, where and what to?
How do I check this!?

sony probably wasn't the best bet for a head unit mate.....
this may be a silly question, but do you have a big enough fuse in it?

To earth the head unit, you find the big black cable which comes out of the head unit. You need to cut this, put a ring terminal on the ned, and earth it to the chassis somewhere. Ideally it needs to be as close to the head unit as possible. Although, personally i cant see this being the problem...
I wreckon the amps knackered!
As said, what rating fuses have you got in it? And did you buy the subs brand new??

The sub was brand new, been back to the shop with it and they hooked it up and tested it Coonper. (Cant get money back since it works)
It worked fine at the store, Im really stuck now.
The sub powers up ok but as soon as the RCA touches the "IN" socket theres a huge drain on the battery (Lights go dim) and the fuse blows.
Only happens when the RCA leads are attached to the stereo.
So I cut the neg wire going to the HU and ground it?
Any ideas to a good grounding point near the HU?
One of the carpet nuts?

Fuse is 25A, it came with the unit and the replacement fuse was 25A too.

The head unit shouldnt cause that problem tbh mate!
You firstly need to rule out the wiring to the amp. But with it only being 3 wires you cant really go wrong!
What you could do is...
Take the amp out and try running it off the battery in the engine bay.Get a positive power lead to the amp as usual, then ground the amp to the neg terminal of the battery, then get a small piece of wire and strap it between the remote terminal and the positive temrinal. You should now have power.
With this done, get the rca's in there and see what happens!
If it still does the same thing, then you know its the head unit! So then you can try earthing the head unit to something better!
It could be that the power cable has a small split in it and is touching the body of the car, causing it to short and blow the fuse.

Im going to try hooking an MP3 player to it tonight and powering it with the cables that I have ran as normal. (With the HU turned on so the remote on is triggered)
If that works then it has to be something with the HU?

Do you think there could be enough current passed down the shielded rca cables to pop a 25A fuse if it was running along side a power cable (even thou it isnt)?
If the neg (outside ring) of the phono plug was touching the back of the HU (oversized plug end) could this cause an issue?
Would the amp try to ground via the RCA cable if the amp was not grounded well enough?

Nah, i cant see that happening tbh. Like you say, try putting you're MP3 player into it via rca leads!

New RCA leads = waste of money, still poped the fuse.
So much for the good luck.
Cannot test any more tonight since I am all out of 25A fuses....
Any more ideas?
