Default Problem entering radio/cd code

Hi - I've already posted in Newbies but still haven't find out. My '03 Saxo has its original cd radio in it but it just says "End" on its display. I was given the code by the vendor but she'd tried entering it without success. It hadn't worked since the car was broken into some months ago. I bought the manual on eBay but the manual just says refer to the information you were given when you bought the car.

The device has number buttons on it for selecting channels etc. I've used these to enter the code, with the ignition key at different positions. It's the only thing I can think of to do with it. And, obviously, it hasn't worked.

Everybody on the thread in Newbies points out what a crap radio it is anyway - I accept this but would still like to see for myself. It's got to be a simple thing to do with the code. Please could someone tell me what it is?

it depends on how many times the code has been entered even before you as it will lock out (basicly useless) its same with the missis ka radio

Not sure what the end code is. Take the radio out and disconnect the power plug from it for 15 mins. Alternatively remove the radio fuse from the fuse box for 15 mins and it should reset itself.

From memory it will lock you out for 15 min if you enter the code incorrectly 3 times.

Thanks both, that's something to work with anyway.

It didn't work - just keep getting the "End" message. I've now been advised that turning the key to the first notch and leaving it like this for 2 hours can also reset the device. Not going to get the chance to do that anytime soon, however.

Had a similar thing with the my genuine stereo all i did was turn key to first notch and sat in car for approx 15 mins it then asked me for the code and away i went. Can leave it on whilst you carry out any work on car, eg. washing it. Hope this helps.

15 minutes sounds a lot more realistic and now I'm likely to give it a shot. I've probably spent more time than that swearing at the thing. Thanks very much.

The bad news is it didn't work, although I sat in the car on the first notch for 2 hours.

Thanks anyway

Yes, it didn't work after all and has been replaced with a respectable Panasonic device a mate didn't need. I think I've had advice from everybody there is now. The thing that made me think the radio did actually work was when a mechanic turned it to off, and then to on again while pressing the 6 button. The radio started working immediately, no need for the code! For about 3 minutes and then it cut out, and that's all it ever did. Apart from say "End" each time, of course.
