Default Plumbing VTS Fuel Return on a VTS Swapped VTR

Might be being thick here, but how do I run a fuel line from the engine to the tank for a VTS swap?
  • I’ve got the VTS lines.
  • My VTR has the FPR on the tank, so only one line goes to the bay.
  • From the bay side, I can see the grommet where the VTR supply line + bonnet catch cable pass through.
  • From the passenger footwell, I can’t see where they actually come in.
  • I pulled the carpet up and can see the VTR supply line from the fuel filter at the bench, but it disappears behind some cracked material (see pic, red arrow shows OG supply and white arrow shows direction https://imgur.com/a/PvzbOIm )

Questions:
  1. How do I get access here — can I just rip that cracked material out? (I assume it’s sound deadening. Long-term I’ll be treating for rust and adding Dynamat anyway.)
  2. On the tank side, am I right that I just bypass the original FPR, since the VTS has it on the engine?
  3. For the return line, assume it doesnt enter the filter and goes straight to pump?
  4. Does the original return bit line from the VTR tank go to the regulator, if so, does it just dump excess fuel into the tank? Not sure how this works and would love to know more.

Cheers for all help

At this point thinking of blanking it, even though I've got the wires, can't for the life of me work out how to get access to the bulkhead from the cabin side without removing the dashboard.

probably will need to pull the dashboard.

or just run the VTR lines to the engine and blank off the return.
