Fuel filter housing air leak 1.5 diesel

Hi
I'm new here , so thanks in advance for any help or advice given.
I have a Peugeot 106 diesel. I've just fitted a saxo 1.5 diesel engine to it. I hope that means I'm welcome?
I have air ingress from the back of the fuel filter housing. There is a little round plastic thing at the back that is about 1 cm diameter and is a white plastic star shape. Fuel leaks from here and air gets sucked in.
The part is not available.
I've read of people sealing this up. I've attempted this using hylamar blue gasket sealant. I'm hesitant to start the engine as after two days the sealant is soft and could? get sucked into injection pump.
I've read of people using blue tack and another person used epoxy metal!
Has anyone had experience of dealing with this?.

There is literally only one person who can help you on here with the derv engine.

Luckily he is the one of the 'survivors' of this forum and will likely be along shortly.

Hylomar doesn't set hard, it's a gasket compound.

A good fuel resistant RTV will work fine, just make sure you give it a good clean. Sump sealant works well.

That valve is still before the filter, so don't worry about any getting into the injection pump, but you should remove as much hylomar as you can before using another sealant.

blutack does work, but the heat will make it fall off after a while. Epoxy resin would work fine too.

Brilliant. Thank you. I already concluded the hylamar was a bad idea! I have used blue tack and this seems a good temporary fix. No air ingress and car running well!
I will take note of your advice and replace the blue tack in due course.
