media player help

my laptop(xp media) wont play dvds (shop or pirate

tryed a codec and it plays but the sounds glitching slightly,
just instaled powerdvd 9 hopeing that would fix it but thats the same
if i play downloaded avi files it plays fine both on media player 10 and vlc just dvd's any ideas

Get rid of Media Player. Media player only plays DVD's if you're on a specific version of windows.

Ive had the same thing, pretty sure its microsofts copyright protection messing stuff up. I stick to VLC for everything these days.
