new or used?

450-500 sounds reasonable too...

8800gts are ageing now though still capable..
case is cheap
mobo is fairly old

but still a nice lil machine...

wouldn't pay more than £400. You don't need anything more than a 400W power supply to run that system so if the seller tries to bump the price up due to that, tell him to take the PSU out and you'll go and buy one for £50.

It is used, the hard drive, memory, psu were all added at christmas time.

It would be a fair upgrade from what i have at the minute since i dont even have a graphics card right now and the last graphics card i didnt have was a readon 9600 so you tell its been a while haha.

He wants 350 ono and if i can get my current one sold for even £100 it would cover a 1/3 of the price so theres potential for a good deal.

Tbh I would keep the PSU, graphics cards now take up more power then you might think, also in the future if you want to run SLi the extra power can come in handy, you can never have too much power!

If you do downgrade, do not get a generic PSU, go for Corsair, or similar.

Dude, that system is poor and you would not need more than a 400W PSU.

I run:

intel quad core @ 3ghz
2 hard drives
An overclocked Radeon 4870
2gb 1066 DDR2 ram
Coolermaster stacker running 3 12mm case fans

On a 450W PSU.

Depends on the PSU, a 400W generic PSU would get absolutely raped by the demands of that spec, a 400W corsair or similar, wouldn't.

Although to futureproof myself I wouldnt go to the hassle of gettin a cheaper PSU, theres no need, yes it can run on a lower Wattage but in a years time when it comes to upgrade that current PSU will be more than capable of handling it.
