Default Rallye's rolling road 8v

Took the rallye on a rolling road today with (nick 2506) (wicked-vtr) today was a good morning.

The rallye got:

Flywheel - 118.7

Witch I thought was really good for an 8v with s1 inlet mani and pugsport!

So I am thinking now what to do??

Keep the 8v and cam it...Maybe boddies?

Or

16v it...Cams...maybe boddies?

I know it seems like im going back in a way but I think 16v much stronger and less tappy! but then again it would be nice to keep the 8v

Keep the 8 valves

A guy on 106 owners had a fair amount out of his rallye around the 150bhp mark I think it was. His username was sje001 or something like that. Saw it at fcs last year was pretty impressive!!

Yeah his car is 157bhp 8v on bodies , he was at the same atspeed rolling road as me. Gave atspeed a signed empty cheque to spend as much as possible to get more power out the engine

But this rallye is gorgeous, love indigo blue rallye's , be different and keep the 8v

Keep it 8v, might not be as powerful as the 16v but the engines in these are getting rare now. 118 bhp is a good figure for just those mods, the J cam and head in these is decent but obviously you could always put in a different one (646 ) and maybe some bodies!
I would say all this though as I've got one of these engines in my vtr

No I didn't!!
I built it myself thank you very much. Atspeed fitted the loom and omex then mapped it.

The 8v on bodies and the 645 cam is a lot more fun than a 16v of similar spec. I've driven both and raced cammed and bodied 16v's and I'm just as fast or faster.

My engine is for sale if your interested.

Yeah agree on them being rare but I just hate the fact of them being soo ticky on tick over but they do pick up the power qucker then 16v! just not sure to spend the money on 8v or 16v i would of thought doing it to 16v it would be alot quciker??

SJE00...Just looked on your thread really nice work mate liking it

Thinking of keeping the 8v camming it and probs bodies but then again i think well its an 8v they are not as reliable as 16v and not as strong if you no what i mean, But then again they are soo much fun. the the other options i am thinking is 16v cat cams bodies blaa blaa blaa soo surly it would be as fun and faster then doing it to an 8v plus look sexy in the enigne bay arghhh i just not sure what to do!!!!!

Why you selling the engine now....What reasons?

Why is a 16v stronger??
I've replaced the head gasket on my 8v once due to a split hose causing it to over heat, and I did it just in case!
Other than that I haven't had to do anything else with the engine!
I'm going down the turbo route mate.

Just think as the 16v has already 120 bhp so having it running at 160 bhp ish think it will handle the power/modifications better then an 8v, thats 103bhp with say 160bhp!

And what you turboing 8v or 16v??

Not at all mate. Tbh I think Peugeot should've fitted a wilder can in the Rallye engine. It would comfortably made 120bhp. Would've still been lighter than the gross the 8 valve is lighter than 16v. 8v is just as strong as 16v.

WHeyyyyy got a thread up at last!. Its looking good, I would stay 8v its worth more at the end, I'd be looking at some serious head work for tuning the 8v, a big valve conversion and then go for a wild cam, bodies and standalone.

Big valves necessarily needed. Some good porting would be a good idea though. A good skim of the head to help compression raise a bit. If your going with the 646 or 645 cat cam be careful due to v close valve to piston contact!
