Sorry dude missed your reply about the mounts. I'd need to find them bit would have only wanted probably £50 for them. If I find em I'll let you know tho. They have the same issue your new ones will have tho with the engine on the slant.

I've no idea why people still use the solid torque link like that now either. Far more civilised options available. You could change that to a rubber mount setup if its going on a road based car. The torque links don't half transfer some noise from the gearbox on overrun lol

Just relised its been 10 months since i started this thread, just read the first page where i was talking to ross. i was a naive prick hahaha

glad im actually working in the motor trade now as i've learnt and understood so much over the past 2 months than i ever did in the 3 years playing around with 106's.

Right some updates for you that are interested.

New wheels.

how the garage stands at the minute

god rid of that Mk1 saxo that was rotten on my driveway, its left some nice oily marks here but im going to get a steam cleaner and some hard floor cleaner on it soon, any suggestions?

Just an indication as to where the new wastegate flange will be re-welded to. i've spoken to GR performance who are very local to me and they are happy to sort out the wastegate job and weld the cheese slice part of metal onto the turbo side to make the angle correct. and for a very reasonable price.

and then i stripped all the paint off my block because i didnt like it

In other news, i took the long gear linkage, and front ARB off the Mk1 before i sold it and will be fitting those to the 106 tomorrow since i painted them tonight with some hammerite to keep them fresher. i have solid gti arb polybushes so they will go on at the same time and i can link up all my droplinks.

Block will be going silver as i saw a picture on a vauxhall forum i use of some paint one lad used and it worked brilliantly so ive oredered a tin and hopefully will be using it on my head, block and box. then the brembos because i cant have red brembos behind green wheels!

thats all for now maybe some updates tomorrow.

oh and the cars having a side exit exhaust...

So first of all i've found a BE setup in the forsale section, it includes a Quaife Diff, Be Box, Mounts, Linkages, Shafts and Hubs. its very tempting but i would have to borrow money ONCE again untill i can sell this saxo i have on my drive. i dont like the idea of borrowing but again i do... tempting anyway we will see..

So i fitted my brembo's yesterday along with the TD1.2s to see how much clearance i had, after forgetting to put the discs on (oopsie) i manage to get them on with loads of clearance

Touched up the brembo too since the other day when i tried fitting them behind my speedline turinis they scratched them, now to apply stickers

Also sanded down my block and painted it the best i could without having my engine stand at my house as a friend is borrowing it for a few weeks, this paint covers amazingly and i couldnt recommend it more!

Gloss black brackets for the silver block

and a sexy alternator

thats all for now, thinking about the BE setup while i go see if there is anything more i can do in the garage

Im a curious guy.

But i havnt bothered anyway cause i know ill end up ruining something.

Martin quick one for you, do you know what make the lower gearbox mount is that ian had on the AX, and at what price do you think it would be reasonable for sale? i already have the full atspeed kit so ill be using that so dont have a use for the one he gave me with the box. thanks

Box of goodies

Welded Shaft

BE Hubs with shims

Spare BE3/4R lower gearbox mount if anyone needs one hit me up..

so started to clean up the gearbox

Got myself some recaro seats out a Rover820 too, the leather is very good condition still it will just need some custom frames making, possibly just get some 106 frames bolt them on and see if they fit, if not they may just need slightly adjusting. fingers crossed!

Some more pictures of the recaros all of the other seat which is the better passenger one, but the leather quality is top notch

Oh and 5th gear end plate also came off so i could paint it separately
