hmmm i had this problem this fix didnt work, its becoming a major issue in winter, this was my conclusion.
Water or dampness was getting into my car maybe just dampness for you might not even see it and the wires for pas, heaters, rear demister were shorting out !
So take carpet away from passanger side footwell your see some wires bolted onto side of car un-bolt wipe spray some WD40 to help disperese water then screw back, also check fuse and relay plug, this worked for me everything works again !
Its worth a go 2min job....

Demister? PAS?
I have this problem however the pas was working then went gradually over a few days on and off was well annoying then it went totally the de mister also does not work however the heater and fans work fine on all three settings so im puzzled i guess i could try the ignition fix but the heater works fine on all three? which fuse box is it for the de mister and pas? also if my pas pump has gone what could be stopping the de mister working if the fuse is ok? i have my mot soon and need to fix both of these issues... thanks guys

My car went away to be repaired through Zurich insurance (3rd party admitted liability) and came back with these three not functioning. I've replaced the battery and done this trick and nothing seems to work.. Anyone got any ideas? I expect it is the alternator now as when revving the engine to 2500-2800 rpm the output of the battery stays at 12V where as it should be at 14V if i'm correct? The 25A fuse has been checked and from what I can see are fine.

i think its a 25amp clear fuse... i had two across the top of fuse box in passenger side. checked both of mine and were ok, so did this mod. it worked for about 20mins whilst driving then the cable i used melted... not sure why - hope someone can tell me!!! am i supposed to use a specific cable? should it get that hot???

would a small piece of aplifier power wire be suitable for this bypass? as ive read in this sticky people have had wires melt & smoke from under the steering colum and was wondering if it would be ok as it can take a large current for an amplifier!!!

found a easy fix for this guys bit annoying but before you turn engine over put fans on give the key a good wiggle and turn key at same time works every day for me some times it takes a few goes but you get the hang of it....... man i love power steering and heat such a luxury

Ok Ive read every post on this thread, my PAS isnt working but my heaters and rear de-mister are working fine. I have recently had quite a bad leak resulting in a pool of water in my passanger footwell, is there anyway this could of somehow killed my PAS?
Also it started working again for a couple of days then died again.
Its strange though because it was working fine when I parked my car, then when i got back into it about 30 mins later it wouldnt work. (it didnt just go when driving)
If any of you could shed some light on this I would really appreciate it, should I even try this 'fix' or is it pointless as my heaters are working.
Just to inform you all Im clueless when it comes to the workings of a car.
Thanks for taking the time to read this and any help would be great
Simo

I have this issue with my wife's Saxo however, when I look at the plug you are referring to one side has two red wires and the other side has only one red wire.
Any idea how I can fix this?
