Sony ericison xperia x10?
Hey guys phone is due for renewal in a week or two, I'm pretty sure I want this phone as it trumps the Iphone in nearly every category. Plus they have undercut iphone costs quite massively. Just wondering if anyone has by chance got one already, and what they think of it?

This is the phone that i am looking at getting. If you get it can you let me know what you think of it. I have been using a G1 android phone for the last year and a 1/2 and i like it but am after a quicker phone and dont want to go for the iphone like the world and its brother own.

I'm going to go for it next week I think, I'll certainly let you know how I like it, the 1ghz processor speeds Android up alot according to videos, only downside is it only have a 65000 colour screen, while the iphone has a 16million colour screen. But I can happily live with that!

X10 = 262,000 colours, 854 x 480 pixels, 4.0 inches
iPhone = 16,000,000 colors, 320 x 480 pixels, 3.5 inches
The X10 actually is 262k colours but is severly limited to just 65k through Android 1.6 iirc. This will be a winning phone but only once they upgrade andriod to 2.0 or 2.1 -which will take SE a great deal of time from past experience.
If they had launched with either OS then this would def be the big hype of Spring 2010.
That being said, apart from the OS I love this phone.
On May 11th it'll be a toss up between the HTC Desire & X10 for me.
Let us know how you get on with it bud

My girlfriend just got this phone! it seems pretty incredible! she had an Iphone 3G before it and just wanted something different and she downloaded a bunch of apps she already had on her iphone. The camera is mint on it and the screen looks amazing! the only problem with it is the battery life.

Got this phone last week, again wanted a decent phone (suppose smart phone would be the term) but again, didnt want an iPhone as every bugger has one...
Always been a Sony Ericsson fan, and after defecting to LG last time round, I was looking forward to returning to an S.E.
So, the phone, its a little big, slightly bigger than an iPhone, but lighter, and the screen size is massive and mightily impressive so I can live with the phone being oversized.
It is quite fast, the O.S is brilliant (never used an Android device before) but I am getting used to it and I am getting to quite like it.
As said, screen is amazing, the quality you get from such a small screen is awesome, with brightness, contrast, clarity and colour detail all being up there with the best.
Camera matches, 8.1 mp so not the biggest pixel count, but a very impressive camera and completely trumps the iPhone! (only downfall would be that it doesnt have a xenon flash, you have to have a permanent LED on to act as the flash, but this is something I can live with) Oh and HD video capture would be nice... but then thered be no market for the Vivaz...
Texting is ...different, the text box is very small and theres no option to view the whole text. Text conversations are displayed as threads instead of whole individual messages which is different, and can be handy for replying to previous messages as they are all displayed, so if you have a short memory and need to see the message you are replying to without having to 'keep going back to your inbox' its great!
Apps, Andriod Market is growing every day, will never be as big, or as successful as iTunes, but it works, serves its purpose, and I imagine will change for the better as time goes by... thousands of Apps available, many the same or similar to popular iPhone apps, or alternatives usually available.
GPS with Google Maps is good, but free navigation software would be good (might never happen but I can hope).
Only gripe with apps is, my gf signed into Facebook on the pre-installed facebook app, it now remembers her FB account and there seems to be no identifiable way of signing out! So now Im stuck on her facebook account!
And then the one major negative fault, battery, lasts one day, no joke. If you turn the GPS off its lasts 1 and a half to 2 days if you dont use the phone.
I can live with putting it on charge every night, but if you happed to be away for a few days and forget your charger youre buggered.
All in all, a very nice phone, I'd give it around a 8.5 out of 10, as it does have its niggles, and is short of a few functions Id like.
Hope that helps!

Bloody hell mate thanks for the massive review, it really is a toss up between than and the HTC HD2, I think I am going to stay with the SE, but struggling to choose, how do you find texting as I have heard a few problems with the on screen keyboard being abit hard to use?
Cheers once again mate!!!

I know its a totally different phone, but my Sony 905 used to need charged every single day, whether I used it or not. Sent it off to be "debranded" and battery lasts at least 5 days, usually a week now. Would always get my phone debranded now

Sorry for the late reply mate, well at first using the QWERTY keyboard is quite hard, but you can change it from the Sony Ericson keyboard to the android keyboard, this makes it alot easier as the buttons are slightly larger and the space bar is in a more convenient place, also it is larger for better access
