How it's made
Hey guys,
Im currently addicted to watching a show called 'How it's made'
It basically shows you how various household items are made, pardon all the terrible puns, and you have an excellent show.
Anyone watch this? Whats the most fascinating thing you've seen made?
Lego. It's fucking awesome.

http://www.saxperience.com/forum/sho...highlight=lego You may get off on this??? lol
Do you watch How do they do it?

It's someone job to make models, and make things for legoland etc. How awesome would that be. They make BILLIONS of bricks a year. Amazing.
Yeah, i watch 'How they do it' as well, they are both on quest, freeview channel 38, Halogen bulbs are being made atm (Y)
Some things are generally like how the hell did they do that... like a machine making plastic bottles, or tea cakes or toothbrushes, i mean seriously, it imbeds tiny sections of bristles on each brush.

I find it quiet odd that they have machines making stuff, stamping stuff out and welding things, yet they have people to package the goods up... Surely its cheaper to get a robot?

I couldn't begin to imagine the amount of time and money it takes to make one of the machines, making things.
But the end quality tests will have to be done by humans otherwise job loss in the area will cause strikes etc against the factories. It culd be done, a lego factory is basically all computerised.
But things like crystal wine glasses? Hoho, they are all hand-made. Because the quality needs to be done by human.
Same as ceremonial coins, and stamps

Yer, that's the clever stuff and clever bit of engineering designed by clever people.
Its litterly 1 machine is made for a 1 off task.... popping on a rivet. Its not like they are going to make another machine ever for that machine to pop a rivet in that exact same place on another product. These machines must cost millions.

Its nothing short of fascinating. The precision needed is otherworldly. But the machine's would cost much to make, it would be the timers, the programming to start/ stop, the way things are facing, setting off triggers.
IE, making soft drinks, making millions of bottles of fanta, if one is 1mm then others down the line will be even more out, and so on, then the product will be dispensing into nothing after a while
