Make sure you block the back and sides...
Then let it cool for about the same ammount of time, and walah a temporary fix

Might have a crack at that actually..

towel trick is a temp fix. they must all break at the same times of year, as last year i heard of loads of people having this prob atthe same time...
last week by bro tells me his 1year old comp is going funny.. my mate said his just returned his 3 year old comp as its got the ring... mine got it last nite... more than coincidence

Do they have a big clock with a timer inside that says "LETS BREAK AT 11PM TONIGHT!" then all of the other xbox's follow suit?
Dont be silly.
It's a major flaw with the cooling.
To fix RROD and you're willing to open it up is really easy.
Just take the standard shit x-clamp off.
Remove heatsink, no doubt there will be hardly any paste left, so add fresh thermal paste.
Put heatsink back on, instead of using x-clamp to hold them there, get yourself the bolts and nylons (people sell these kits on ebay for about a pound) DONT BE FOOLED BY "Replacement X-CLAMP WOAH!" kits, they're a rip off.
Overheat it, let it cool, you'll notice it's perfectly fine again and shall be fine forever if you give it sufficient cooling. I can recommend the XCM Cooling kit that you can fit into it, I bought one and it's very good. However the only flaw is that it's a little loud...

I have the xbox 360 Pro which is the newer version with a different chip or summit so its far less likely to have the 3 red rings of death and I'm selling it when I have access to the for sale section
P.s dont do the towel trick lol It works for about a week until your xbox fully blows up lol

Majority of premiums, especialy after December 2007 are pretty much exempt from RRoD (Same goes for elites...)
Towel trick blows you xbox up does it?
That's funny, I did it on the gloss black one pictured above due to solder becoming loose causing the video output to be dicky... strange how it's still working and not blown up 7 months down the line isnt it
Leckmeister - X-Clamps blow mkay! ... s'all about nylon washers and small bolts

Well you might be lucky but I know more people that have had problems after a short amount of time with the towel trick than it being the perfect solution
