Question for the computer boffins
My sound in my laptop is busted. Do I need a new sound card?
The slider and mute tab go orange when it's muted but I can't put the volume back on? It goes blue when the volume isn't muted but it just seems 'stuck'
Please help I can't deal with no volume

Stick external speakers on, if they work then there is a working soundcard, and the problem will lie either with the drivers or the internal speakers.
Come back and let us know how you get on.

Sadly not as easy as replacing the soundcard on most laptops,
You could try re-installing the drivers from your laptop manufacturers website, or try a system restore to a date when it worked

Id try reinstalling the drivers if you are sure you cant unmute.
If that doesnt work,
System restore possibly?
If that doesnt work....
Rebuild.

I haven't even tried yet. I'm shit with things like updates and installing stuff etc cos I don't know what am doing. Might pop it in to PC World and see what they can do for me.
Luke, it's XP. Did want Vista and my laptop can take it but I'm not sure I wanna pay to upgrade lol
