starter motor removal ????
Anyone tell me what socket / spanner combinations I need. What sizes. Also homany holding it on and am I right thinking starter from a pug 106 or any saxo model will do same job??? Tar

not sure on sizes sorry :/ but all starter motors are the same on saxo's and probably 106's too i would imagine

They are the same..
iirc its 13mm Socket or 10mm socket.. and definitely a smaller 8mm socket. They are an absolute arsehole to get to sometimes.

3x 13mm bolts holding starter motor in, 13mm bolt for power lead, 8 or 9mm for earth lead

Tar lads + gonna try get 1 off scrappy now not sure how possible that's gonna be with cars pinned to floor n top of each other shud b ok to get too I hope at home got big jack n axel stands

Managed to do mine from the top today - much more difficult than my old Ax as too many pipes / cables in the way. Also, the main cables were held to the starter with a 12mm nut so that was a royal pain as was trying to undo it with a 13mm spanner!
Took the starter apart, cleaned all the components, lubricated moving parts, put back together and no more screeching when it starts up!

when ever my car is warm the starter motor always slips off the flywheel (im assuming) and doesnt start, total minter if im at a petrol station, would a new starter motor fix this?

Would imagine a new one would cure your problem.
Cheaper to take your old one alart, clean, lube and put back together. Carb cleaner worked a treat with mine and no longer sounds like a bag of nails when you start it up.

Not sure if they are all the same.
The one in the MK1 VTR has a spade connector over a ring type connector, perhaps slight variance in models of starter?

3 bolts and the two wire bolts, undo them and pull it out.
I might make a guide on how to use sockets or spanners, and also how to work out if the socket fits or not. Usually, if it doesnt fit then it doesnt go over the head of the bolt, if its too large then there will be play when you put the socket on the bolt.

No torx bolts just 3 13mm bolts, one bolt head on the gearbox side, 2 bolts on engine side, that was on my 1.1 106 that I changed the gearbox on last weekend.
I would say just do it from the top, take off battery, battery tray and air box for ease of access rather than getting loads of rust and dust in your eye from underneath. If you like a mouth and eye full of rust and dust, Jack that frog up and unbolt it the dirrty way

Best to remove it from under the car. But with very much struggle can do it by removing the air box... But it's a pain in the Arse seriously
