Rorz Icelandic vtr turbo - Few more parts for the finish

Oh forgot also got a dewiper grommet, a bag of new clips for the body panels and some upholstery spray. I'm hoping the last thing will work as well as I hope as it'll look class if it comes out well

had to order another 2 cars of upholstery spray, bit pissed off tbh as i got just enough to do a base coat on the bits im colouring ffs going to cost a total of £40 just to colour a few bits.

The only thing I'm unsure of is do I bother to go for low comps or not

Right small update i have stripped the engine and had a little play and found out that my old light weight flywheel fits as well as my alloy pulleys from the crank to alt so these will be getting fitted

I also found out what happened to my Vts, the dick that fitted the clutch fitted it wrong and all the springs bar two had snapped so I've now got a spare Vts box and means I'll need to buy a new omp clutch which is going to be costly. I've also got a walbro fuel pump so that should help fuelling just need to find some bigger injectors.

Oh and I've de-greased, sanded down, paint the block, rear mount, thermostat and polished the sump. I also have a full bolt set so all should look new and shiny just to my liking

Another little update, decided that to sort the management problem out I need to swap the 3plug loom on my vtr to a single plug from the early vtr's. Got this sorted thanks to a bloke for £70
This means that I can sort out a preditor ecu from Andy at datashift. I have also got this sorted now thanks to me sourcing a second hand pred and Andy said he can remote map it with a 8v turbo base map for £80 all I would have to do then is book it in for a hour or 2 on a dyno to perfect the map. So as soon I have the loom back ill be able to fit the engine and get the base map on and bed the engine in abit.
I also ordered myself a AP 6 paddle clutch and new thrust release bearing so hopefully that should take the power I throw at it till the driveshafts snap

Right I'll update whilst I have lunch, decided last night that I won't bother with low comps just yet as I'd like to be able to attend the north west meet in December. This ment I could crack on .

I've so far completed the painting, got the engine mounted on my stand, fitted all the new parts and new bolts to the bottom and have removed the head and cam ready for the turbo cam and pulley off blackie so I can quickly whip it in and get the engine timed up.

Alls gone well bar I lost my alternator which saxokid had nicely removed the nut that had sealed on so lucky for me after posting 2 out recently am now on my last one but the bolt seams even more stubborn so I think I'll drop it into a garage so they can wizz it off with a airgun.

Another thing is should I replace the valves now or wait till I put the low comps in. I can get Citroen ones fairly cheap and have them by the end of the week ummmm.

right few pics of todays work.

I'd already given the block a good long soak with some megs degreaser but as you can see it didn't remove as much as i wanted. (the whole block on all sides were caked in this crap)




So out came the Aquaklean this did the trick as usual and left me with this.



I then used the rust seal, this prevents water from entering the metal and in theory once painted will never rust again.



As you can see this leaves a protective zinc coat once its drawn all the water out the metal , now ill skip the individual bits out and show the painted and built up bottom end with new alloy pulley, water pump, tensioner, and bolts. It still needs the painted alt brackets and alt putting on once the paints dry and the other pulleys fitted.




I then took the head off so i could have it ready for the turbo cam and pulley, im not to impressed with what i found.



Hopefully ill be able to get those marks skimmed out so i think whilst the heads away ill get it ported and polished and get a full set of new valves fitted.

Im not going to worry about the pistons thanks to the clearance these give me.




So once ive took everything out and made sure its all been sealed from dust/dirt. This is how i left it.

Cheers mate, yea chrome on icelandics ftw I don't like it when everyone follows the same route and smokes everything. Thats why I went for chrome rears aswel just need to tint the middle square and I'm done

They do look bad mate that's why I wasn't to impressed. I can't work out where the bits have come from to mark it cause the valves are fine there was a few little bits stuck on the piston. If the worst comes to the worst mate I'll by a mk1 vtr or s1 rallye head and use that with the metal inlet

Got the wishbones stripped and painted in the same blue as the block and ordered a new set of rear bushes, ball joints and racing spec yellow poly bushes for them. I also decided to paint the little brace bar blue and I'll be doing the stearing arm cylinder, struts, lower engine mount and ARB in black to freshen things up.

Also the top of the engine is going to the shop to be ported and polished, skimmed and fully cleaned within the next few days I'm not going to re-new the valves just yet since the engines only on 70k plus I'll be renewing them later on if I need to go for forged goodies.

I also bought a mk1 vtr ignition setup and some HT coil leads so hope that cures the coil pack problems the later saxos seem to have, and a T25 updated heat flange so it should last longer rather than those pathetic skinny thing the turbos come with
