im liking the stealthly look tbh. im buying a new front bumper and having the intercooler sprayed black, and meshing bumper off. TOO many people bottle it when they see intercooler. just nice to tag on the back of them and

'BWooosh, gear change-PWTTSSSHHHHH, BWAAAMMMM. cyaaaa
flol im better keeping track of things when its a mess mate and tbh mate the garage is REALLY tidy atm lol should of seen it before i lost the arb bush last week, couldnt hardly move in it (found the missing bush in my spanner box in the boot of the car )

completely agree with you with people chickening out when they see a cooler for a mouth i use to cruse round with a lad in a golf 1.8T, looked standard and he justed to get loads of 'play' time till he mounted the cooler in the bumper then it just stopped as it made it look 'to' aggressive

stealth ftw

right turbos has arrived but tis really confused me as to what turbo i had on it to start with, i know the one ive bought is a GT25 as it still has the metal stamp on with the codes, the one i already had doesnt have any form of identification which sucks. I do know that the cituning kit comes with a GT17 which is a smaller Hybrid turbo but after comparing the 2 together it looks like the one i already had is bigger now im only going of the outer inlet casing and not off the internals but ALL the ports bar the exhaust one on the mystery turbo are bigger and alot more open than the new GT25. Also the new GT25 didnt come with the inlet flange so looks like another £60 has to be spent to be able to get the induction kit to fit.

Now heres where my heads come into play... I know that the T2 and T25 turbo housings are inter changable so im wondering if i can do the same here as they should be almost the same inside bar the fan blades on the turbo itself. Im going to search the net for a answer i think and then reshell if i can and sell the mystery turbo once ive found out what it is

New ones on the right, mystery one on the left

Right yellow cars gone met my friend the wizzer and mr scrap man in exchange for a battery cage for the boot

Had a play with the turbo housings and I'm going to have to keep the gt25 one which sadly means I'm going to now have to spend a extra £60 to get a flange for it, I also found that where my oil line was on the 17 it hits the manifold flange on the 25 so I'm now going to get a 90 degree fitting made up so it doesn't get in the way arrgggg don't know where to go for one or what size to get

Also have a few new bits for the manifold/turbo but I'll keep those under wraps for now, feel free to try guess

And as much as I said I wouldn't buy any more little bits I've bought a 306gti6 indicator so I can have both lamps lit when I have the full beam on
Also finished off the stereo system with all the cabling hidden and the components wired up to a 500watt amp so should have crystal clear sound now. I also got a few new 5 angle white smd lights for the license plates and interior so I can see inside properly lol and some 9smd lights for the side lights in the front
Last bit for now been in touch with swampy again for a few more sets of bolts to finish the vtr engine off and a new set for the rear beam so when i refurb it before the french car show i can replace everything and ive ordered a proper battery relocation kit with killswitch

well today i spent 13hours working on the car... yes thats right a straight 13 hours and I'm tired but pretty pleased with what I've managed to get done.

sorted out all the bits to go on the engine before hand so i could bolt bits straight on.
put the HG on
Bonded the decomp plate the the head
put the head on
put the turbo cam, rocker and head bolts back on
rocked cover back on
thermostat on with new gasket fitted with new bolts
turbo upper mani fitted with new gasket and gave it a quick polish )needs a lot more sanding and polishing to be spot on)
stripped the turbo and rebuilt it (absolute mission)
cleaned the sump up, painted it and new nuts/bolts fitted
sorted out the oil return hoses and setup
fitted the water lines to turbo
down pipe to turbo fitted
turbo heat shield fitted (stops the oil cooler lines and electrics from burning up)
fitted all the new water pump/tensioners and belt
Fitted the venier pulley to cam
Fitted the alternator brackets with new bolts/nuts and then the alternator
Fitted alloy alternator/crank pulleys with new fitting belt
timed the engine (will need setting properly for mapping)
fitted the cam cover (forgot i had to remove the crank pulley to do this )
fitted the rear engine mount bracket with new bolts all lock sealed in
Fitted the inlet mani after giving it a good de-grease with new nuts
fitted the new fuel rail with new bolts(just waiting on injectors which I've got ordered)
made a bracket for the dizzy block and mounted it to the thermostat
fitted new spitfire twin core leads to new low temp spark plugs
fitted rear water hoses (wish i had kept my silicone ones now )
fitted the air lines for the DW and charcoal canister

Not bad tbh been waiting a while to get this thing built and I'm glad it just went together with no issues, just need the injectors and map sensor and the lumps sorted.

Fridays job will be to fit the alloy flywheel, 6 paddle clutch, reinforced clutch plate and new release bearing along with a vtr box (only once I've washed and painted it obviously ) and my new starter motor. any way a few pics to tickle the taste buds

From this

then stripped back

Part way

To this

Quick one of the Transmission parts

Opinions please guys

rotate the core on the new turbo so the return is pointing down and not at an angle like it is when I did that n the quiky the return hit the leading edge of the lower slam plus you ideally want it straight as poss

Tried mate its wasn't having it, I had to buy different oil line for the top as the mani flange blocks the hole

Yea that's the plan but I'll run it up on a trailer and leave it with them to fine tune and that way if theres a issue with anything I can get it sorted out
