I need a Tower, Mobo, CPU and RAM (i need your help IT geeks)
...i think anyway.
My computer suffered terminal meltdown yesterday. Basically I turn it on and turns on the devices (you can hear the HD whirring up, see the cd drive flicker etc) but no graphics BIOS - thus no mobo bios, monitors remain dead.
Now I've had trouble in the past where I've suspected the primary slave IDE channel hasnt been working correctly as I've lost data from a HD and when a CD drive was installed it failed to detect the disk properly, so I'm guessing the chipset on the mobo has turned to dust.
my setup was as follows:
2600+ XP
1GB DDR RAM
2x 320GB IDE HDD's
2x DVD drives
Sound Blaster X-FI Platinum
5900XT Geforce something or other
thats about all I know of.
Basically I need a new tower, CPU, mobo and RAM and then I'll just attach my old devices, sound (PCI), graphics (AGP 8X), HDD's (IDE) etc
I need cheap as possible! but i DO need 1GB of RAM, Im a student! I dont need the fastest, but it would be nice to exceed the current speed of my old CPU.
what can i get for what price?
Please help!

You will need a cooler with that CPU as it's an OEM, but other than that, cock on for the money!

The processor is a Sempron not an Athlon like your current, but it will be fast, as it's got a higher clock speed than the one you have at the moment
Can use your old RAM yep as the motherboard there accepts DDR400

Remove the little flat battery on the mobo for a while & then stick it back in & boot up.
Your cpu wont fit that mobo either, yours is a Socket A & the new sempron boards are Socket 754.
You can get a new CPU for <£30 though so your option may be to replace the CPU & motherboard & reuse all the rest of your current components.

That can't be a socket A can it?
1gb ram in a socket a? My old Duron rig used to take 128mb

Athlon Xps were all socket A. Think Socket A boards would take upto about 4gb in ram. My current board has 2gb in it & an Athlon XP 2800+ i'll check what it can take (rooms a tip, bout to be decorated & as luck would have it my mobos box is right behind me )
EDIT: 3gb max in 3 slots. It was a top spec board at the time too (Asus A7n8x Delux v.2) so i think that will be about the max any socket A board would take
