great guide mate. Need to do mine soon, ive read that you should change the water pump at the same time as the cambelt, is this necessary?

I didnt change mine , but im a mechanic and dont really see the point in changing a waterpump that isnt noisey or leaking, but for somebody paying a labour rate at a garage it makes sense to have it changed to avoid paying for the cambelt to be stripped down a second time just to change the water pump people like to play it safe

i didnt mark the waterpump pulley , would obviously be a pointless thing to do, if you look at the pics you'l see i marked both the crank and the cam only and in RED .... if your on about the blue spec on the waterpump pulley....thats loctite

as stated I would lock the fly and cam then you can't get it wrong really! When I did my gti belt it had marks on it, but after a rotation they where out, but it was timed up right. Locking it off is a good fail safe really.
But good guide mate, should help the folk that want to give it a bash themselves.

not seen one tbh, changing the actual belt on a vts is a bit harder because there are 2 cam pulleys,i just mark them both accuratly and mark the crank before removing the belt
