Default Opinions on this Camera?

Now then, I know near enough to f**k all about photography, but see all these people taking amazing looking photos of their cars and at shows etc, and I would like a better camera. I would like a camera that is low budget (Below £250ish) which is that step above my fairly crappy pentax 7 megapixel 2006 camera!

Seen an advert pop up for this today and wondered if its worth the money.

http://www.bennettsonline.co.uk/product/fuji-s2980

If there is any cameras you would advise below £250ish, please link me, I dont mind buying second hand etc, but dont even know what models I should be looking for!

I know alot of people in this section spend £4-500 on a camera and Im sure you will all say "you get what you pay for" which I agree with so am looking for something inbetween those hardcore pricey cameras and the average digital camera.

Many thanks!

£500 is bottom of the range, think people in this section spend upwards of that.

Wouldnt it be best getting a point n shoot for that price rather than something thats trying to be something it cant afford to be?

What do you want from a camera.

£500 as said is bloody cheap compared to what some of us have to spend.

If you only want something for pratting about with/going out then just go point and shoot, if you want to do more general hobby stuff learning on the cheap then the bridge camera isnt bad, else the new style of CLS systems are good.

I would recommend getting a second hand Canon or Nikon although if £250.00 if your budget then you will have to get an old model. I've had two Canons now can't fault them at all apart from the -£1000.00 coming out of my bank account! Keep an eye out on Amazon.co.uk.

If the person is wanting it for general snaps + fitting in a pocket then an SLR isnt needed/wanted.

If anything the micro CLS systems are something canon/nikon are a little bit behind on.
