Testing A Map Sensor - Saxperience

Hello im having all sorts of typical french problems with my mrs saxo furio. Im just wondering how to check if the map sensor is working properly and also what should happen if it is working if you unplug it while the engine is running? Ive changed the ICV and it is running better but it still keeps stalling and missfiring.

I had a dodgy MAP sensor and made no difference when plugged/unplugged - have been told a MAP sensor in a saxo doesnt constantly produce a reading, its only at random times. I then put it on a code reader and a MAP sensor malfunction came up.

yeah i no that is what i had heard as well just when i unplug the map sensor when the engine is running the engine cuts out and i dont no if it is suppose to do that or not. I have read posts that sound like it is the map sensor as i have similar problems but dont want to change it if it is fine. Any other ways of testing it?

A working map sensor when unplugged would make the engine stall or at best idle/hunt very badly. The map sensor gives the ECU the Manifold Absolute Pressure so it can calculate load. (or something along these lines).
A faulty map sensor can cause poor running and idling but are usually quite reliable.

Describe the fault and you might get some more input to help you out with this

well it just has a moment when you drive it where it will be fine and then as soon as you stop or let the revs drop it will stall and then have a missfire and then when you turn the engine of and on again it is fine. Also it will rev itself up to 3k when stopped and then start missing again as soon as you touch the throttle.

I also have some sort of fuel leak or vapor leak where the fuel line goes into the fuel rail but have not looked into that yet as i only found that out this morning.

At atmospheric pressure you should have 5 volts on one wire, zero volts on another and around 4.6 volts on the signal pin. They are an analogue sensor which should work all of the time.

My MAP sensor has 4 poles, and according to catalog for my VIN OEM is 1920AN.After checking to buy one, it seems that for 1920AN fits 3 poles MAP sensor.I'm confused

One with 3 poles is 1920AN and one with 4 poles is 1920AJ. Just buy new one it costs only about 15€ and replace it.

The extra pin is for air temperature, which is a separate sensor on cars equipped with a 3-pin MAP sensor.
Only fit GENUINE parts, there's crap copy Chinese rubbish everywhere these days. Buy cheap, you buy twice!!!
