HELP
just upgraded lime wire on my pc and ever since my computer has started doing this:
its like something is trying to send loads of emails, if i leave it up just a few mins over 571 boxes come up and just constantly keeps going up and up. i have norton anti virus on my pc and thats come up with nothing after a full system scan, also removed limewire but still doing it help!!!

Try the system restore.......so then it will recover your computer to the settings it was before you installed Limewire

Completely un-install
Control bar --> programs etc
The re-install and download Pro for free
If the problem still goes on you need to take you hard drive to a specialist or get a pro round to get rid of the virus mate as that sounds like a nasty one

You need to get a Firewall, if you already havent to stop hackers/virus's geting onto your computer while connected to the internet

how do i do that mate? i dont mind doing the system restore but will i lose much data? also forgot to say it only does the above like in the pic if im connected to the net if i disconnect it stops usin my psp to post this now

It should be in your Control panel........it is on my computer but ive got Windows Vista OS.......but i think its the same on XP aswell
As you said you got a Firewall built into your Norton, make sure you got all lastest updates

if i put all my important data on my ewternal hd then restore it from scratch would thd virus go on the external hd?

go to start > run > type "msconfig" without the quotes, go to "startup" tab untick any norton stuff, then to go "Services" tab and tick hide all microsoft services at the bottom, then in the list above untick any norton stuff, "ok" and reboot. That will stop norton starting on boot.

phew.... final back up and running, i backed all my stuff up on my external HD then completely wiped and reinstalled the system, i think it needed it coz of the amount of crap i had on it that i dont use any more at least now i can just install the stuff i do actually use. anyway next question is:
What anti virus software do you recommend?

AVG all the way mate
Norton is huge and very slow
Also can cause problems within the system
Download a free AVG trial and go from there
Or use Limewire Pro to get it <-- I didnt reccomend that

system restore and make sure its for a day before the install date of the new limewire

Glad to see your sorted it, yeh that was the only last options i would of done, to re-install the whole OS
Yep i agreee AVG all the way wat i used to use, very good IMO

i downloaded limewire pro by using the normal limewire and i think limewire pro is slower tbh!
i think nortonss shite aswell,
use AVG for ya AV and zonealarm for ya firewall
