BT are retards
I have had their "Home Hub" and "Vision" box now for about 8 months. And the speed of the B/band connection I get stays at about 4,5MB's for about 4 weeks, then goes right down as low as 1,1MB's, and has even hit 0,5 MB's.
Ring them up and EVERY time they say "Have you replaced the filter? Have you done this? Have you done that?"
Today, they were making me go through and delete cookies off the computer thinking that would improve the speed!
There is some kind of problem at the exchange where the signalling unit all of a sudden decides it isn't going to be able to deliver that speed and drops like a stone.
Today the speed dropped down to 2,2MB, and after speaking to their Indian call centre, they have told me to replace the filter etc etc etc...I told him what they needed to do, and he was like "So why does your internet slow down all the time then?".
They are such retards - all this has happened since I took their crap Home Home and Broadband Phone and Vision. Bring back the Voyager Wireless plugged in to the phone line!
Anyone else have their crap? I know the Adz21 has had problems with it, and Ads from Crawley had the same problem too - such mongs are BT!!

I am on BT and on the Home Hub too.
Never had any problems with it to be fair, think I have contacted them once as a wireless channel needed to be changed but that was it. The speed of my connection is upto 8mbs but my line supports 5mb but I seem to achieve the same each time I am online.

It also depends on the contention ratio and any throttling that BT have in place.
Or it could be that even BT hate you.

I got fed up after years of trouble with BT home hubs etc, and got a free netgear router from work, not had a single problem with the connection nor the wireless functionality since. Home hubs are utter wank.

Mate if BT never got rid of us ace contractors Ive could of helped. Im at Fujitsu now
working for AOL. Get an AOL line and I will give you the God of BB Service.
Thing is, those procedures they keep asking you to do are standard cause most people are
daft and run really long wiring in their home/dont use correct filters/have the wiring under
table legs or the dogs chewed it lol!
Freshies, you have to love em (bastards stole my cushy job)

It's a known fact BT cap connections and they thottle the lines in peak hours, also if you download alot you will be capped to .5mb.
Ring up and ask to be put through to broadband high level complaints dept, things are more likely to change, also keep a log of speed tests.
Also all the call centre staff read from a script so i wouldn't bother with them. If it's not there on A4 they aint got a fugging clue.

as i look now, the hub home page says i'm connected at 3.7. this varies between 3.2 and 4.5 Meg.
I've got a lovely Linksys modem sitting here, but i can't use it as you have to use the bloody hub as the modem in order to use the broadband talk feature. If it wasn't for that then i'd whack the hub behind my router and switch and let my dedicated modem do all the work - that i get a steady 5.5Meg on - nowhere near what the hub can get :s
As for their customer service - its pathetic. i understand that they have to ask all the stupid questions, but its when you tell them that you know the problem they tell you that its something stupid like a filter or your computer that causing the problem!!!
