Just bought Laptop (Virus protection)
Whats best free virus protection, Spyware protection and any other i'll need. Got Mcafee through aol on desktop but won't let me put it on another computer and not paying twice. Free ones would be great links would really help too its running vista basic if need to know. Help would be great never used vista

AVG free is the best I've used recently. I rate it higher than Avast due to ease of updating, performance and interface.

AVG 8 (free version from there website)
Avast 4 Home Edition (free from the dev. website)
Spyware Protection:
Superantispyware
Spybot Search and Destroy
Malware Bytes ANti Malware
Google the whole lot if need be, its all I use and never have any problems!

i use eset nod 32 not free but not mega dear either and also gets a lot cheaper the more liecences you buy for other computers. And is a great programme works good updates itself all the ime and does not slow your pc down

Free virus protection is poo, think, you dont get anything for free these days.
Im running Avast 4.8 Pro and windows defender. The best i have used so far.
Best for pay for something you know that is going to protect your private info on your PC

Also Windows defender comes standard with Vist, but trust me with Avast pro all the way
