Default question about new law ect

right my insurance is up on the 2nd july. and my birthday is on the 9th (a week later) i would like to have a new quote for insurance for after my birthday. so it would mean having my car uninsured for a week. but still taxed, however i can use my push bike for work ect so i wouldn't have to use the car.

anyway.

due to new laws stating a car must be either insured or sorn would that me having no insurance for a week mean i'd get a fine?

or if i had a new policy and set it to start on the 10th (for example) would i still get the fine due to it being taxed? or would i have to sorn it for the week (i plan to tax for 6months in march)

thanks for any help
