Why we should all love Citroen
My and jeffchiz found out these good points and were bored as fuck.
Citroen facts:
1. First mass production car company outside of the USA
2. Within 8 years citroen was Europes largest car manufacturer and 4th largest in the world
3. In 1954 Citroen developed the first hydro-pneumatic self leveling system
4. In 1955 Citroen DS was the first European production car with disc brakes
5. In 1967 Citroen introduced the first swiveling headlights that moved when turning
6. Within the first year GM tried to buy citroen
7. Andre Citroen (founder) used the Eiffial tower as the worlds largest ever advertising sign as recorded in the guiness book of records. It had Citroen wrote on the full length of it for 9 years!
8. Citroën produced Europe’s first all-steel-bodied car
9. In 1934, Citroen created not only the world's first mass-produced front-wheel drive car, but also one of the first cars to feature a monocoque-type body.
10. A 1923 5CV was the first car to be driven around Australia
11. In 1933 Citroen introduced the first commercially available passenger car with a diesel engine
12. Pierre-Jules Boulanger the 2nd chairman of the company was manufacturing trucks the the Germans in world war 2. He organised a go slow on this and sabotaged most of them by placing the dipstick marks in the wrong place causing there engines to seize after use. His name was included on a Nazi black list as one of the most important enemies of the Reich.
13. Citroen were behind the development of several Maserati models and the Quattroporte 2 prototype was a 4 door citroen SM under the body panels.
14. In 1968 Citroen buy Maserati
