Default Drum to Disc Conversion Abs problem

Hello ı have 1997 peugeot 106 xs with vtr blacktop engine.I have a drum beam in the back and want to change drum beam with gti disc beam but my car equipped with abs from factory. When ı look part numbers abs pump and ecu is diffrent in disc beams. Is there anyone change the drum beam with disc beam in abs equıpped car.Is abs still working when keep abs pump and ecu for drum brake. If ı change the abs pump and ecu with gti ones will ı have a problem with engine ecu because of diffrent ecu in xs and gti. Will my engine ecu work with gti's abs ecu ? I want abs is working after change the beam.

Thanks to everyone who helps in advance

Hello, so the ABS pump and its ECU/controller work totally independently of the engine ECU.

The number of teeth on a disc axle might be different to the number of teeth on the drum, so it might think the wheels are starting to lock up when you brake.

I would try it and see if it works first with the drum brake ABS controller.

If you fit the GTi ABS pump it will work, as long as the GTi ABS pump is of the early type (pre 1999)

I think pumps are identical but abs controllers are diffrent. When ı look the spare gti abs pump ate's (manufacterer of the pump and controller) part numbers are same.Abs pump has code sticker on top of the pump.Drum ones is ate 96 239 624 80 and sticker is white on disc ones code is ate 96 258 311 80 and sticker is black but pump has another code sticker on the side and codes are identical ate 10.457-0827.3.I think sticker on top of the pump is for complate unit (Pump+controller).Controller part numbers are diffrent drum ones have ate 96 275 345 80 and disc one have ate 96 275 394 80

You're thinking about this too much.

Try the disc axle on the car first, with the original drum ABS unit.

You will know immediately if it is incorrect.

If it doesn't work, fit the GTi ABS pump (this means the pump and the controller as 1 unit). It's a direct fit (to the electrical connector) as long as it's early pre1999 type.
