No massive plans yet, wanna keep it fairly standard as i had my fun with the saxo modding it.

If any other engine troubles arise then the turbo engine will be getting dropped in, but other than that i was gonna get an Apexi induction kit or K&N 57i, they sound beefy as fuck on these.

Also emailed a local company that make custom stainless steel exhausts about getting a silenced backbox, so it just gives a bit of a burble when you put your foot down, don't want anything loud, just something that looks nice at the back since it has 2 corroded exhaust tips atm, don't exactly look pleasant.

Other than that it would just be little cosmetic mods like wheels etc, nothing massive yet.

In a way yes, it's faster (the saxo had the 16v engine) but it doesn't feel it since the build quality is a LOT better, you dont realise how fast you're going.
Handles better than the saxo ever did too, but obviously being rear wheel drive it feels a lot different.

On the other hand, the saxo was a little bit more of a fun drive..this is a drivers car, if anybody loves to drive then they'd lvoe to drive this, but the saxo was more of a 'fun' car.

Well the saxo's gone now, so i just have this, but this is pretty fun to drive especially now we have nice weather i can take the Tbar roof out and enjoy it properly

Right, gave the MR2 some much needed cleaning.

Method was
Wash with AG shampoo
Clay with Sonus clay
Wash again.
Hand polish with AG ultra shine or whatever it's called
Wax with my new wax i ordered (Chem guys- Pete's 53 pearl shine)
my first time using a hard wax and i have to say i'm impressed, also my first time claying so i'm pretty proud of the results...definitely needed it though.

Also redid some of the wiring inside the car, i had a fucking annoying buzz coming from the speakers no matter how loud i had the stereo, after fucking about with some wires and some conenctors that was sorted.

Also tried to fix the leaking Tbar roof



Yes it's cling film, no i'm not fucking crazy.
Cling film on to protect the windows and paint from the silicon while it was drying on the rubber of the seals.
Worked perfectly on all corners apart from one..but that only leaks when it's absolutely pissing down now.

Also forgot to mention, next month the car will be gone for ANOTHER week to have some rust repairs done and some painting.

The rear parts of the sills have completely gone on this, it's a shame but it's nothing that can't be sorted with a bit of cash...end of the day, it's only paper isn't it?
Beaniemoo will have the car, they'll be grinding out the old, damaged metal and welding in new, then respraying the sills of the car in the original colour..plan was to get it resprayed in the original colour next year either way, but it'll really bug me if i don't get it painted when it's being done..

Update on this. Since aving it back after the head gasket was done it's been runnin a bit rough on idle.

I took it to an MR2 specialist near Luton and turns out the ignition timing was set at 22 degrees..it's meant to be 10..so that was swiftly changed back to how it was meant to be, but it didn't cure the rough idle, just sorted out my petrol consumption!
Also most of the vacuum pipes weren't plumbed up properly, so the car had no idea what was going on and the ACIS valve wasn't opening up properly at 5.5k revs like it should.

Ordered a few sensors, hoping that the ECU coolant temp sensor will sort the rough idle out since it only does it when the car's up to temp.

Also fitted a K&N 57i induction kit to it, which gives a nice deep roar to the engine note and this evening i ordered a Japspeed exhaust box

Should sound a little like that. Will be getting the manifold and downpipe in a month or 2.

The rust will be getting done at the start of August now hopefully, recently got a better paying job so when i get paid again it will be going on the rust and insurance pays.

I'll grab some pictures tomorrow of the induction kit and when the exhast arrives i'll have a video up!

Right couple of updates

Got another sticking caliper, it's only a little bit, but it's enough to make the brakes squeak when i'm not braking! RAGE

Fitted my Japspeed exhaust the other day too, had to take an angle grinder to the old one, pretty sure it was the original 16 year old one!

Not too sure if i prefer the rear grill bent up so you can see with exhaust piping or fold it back down to cover up so you can just see that cans?

Anyways, ordered a new caliper today too, it's a recon unit but the pistons won't be stuck so i'll what that's like after it's fitted...

Rust will now be getting done at the end of August since Beaniemoo will be moving to a new workshop giving them a better space to work on bigger jobs such as this.

Anybody good with wheels and tyre sizes?

Thinking of getting some LEnso D1Rs for the '2..but i'm slightly confused abot the wheels and sizes...mainly the offsets.

Standard sizing is ..
Front-195-55-r15 on 6jj alloys
Rear225-50-r15 on 7jj alloys

no idea what the offset is.

The ones i'm looking at are 16 inch and will be 7j on front and 8j on rears...going for 205-45-r16 on fronts and 225-45-r16 on rears but the offset is et35 on both...anybody know if that would be okay? Also, what does the offset do? i have no fucking clue with wheels..

Offset is what brings the wheels out from the arches, you need to find the original offset and try to get rims that match it or are very close if not spacers will be needed

Yeah i've read about that since i posted. Original offset is 45, but i know people that run 8j fronts and 9j rears with et35 and et38 on rear..just wondered if 16 inchs with 7j and 8j would be okay with et35 all around.

Just stumbled across this, nice car mate, looks clean. Will look really nice when you get the new wheels on. As for your wheel sizes I'm not sure on the offset but you can get wide ones in there easy I think mine are 215/40 17 on front and 235/40 on back, even with it lowered it doesn't rub.
Will be keeping an eye on this.

Cheers buddy. I got the new wheels, they look amazing and sit perfectly..apart from the fact that the spokes of the rear alloys were dragging across my disc carrier nice massive score mark on the back of my brand fucking new alloys.

Waiting on pay day so i can get some 5mm spacers and bolts then they'll be on ASAP, bit dangerous since the current standard alloys have tyres that are all on the limit apart from one which is completely bald on the inside..running it as little as possible atm..

New tyres on the alloys. Got some Nankangs on the front but got Toyo T1Rs on the rear.

205/45/16 fronts and 225/45/16 rears.



And the worst tyre on the car..ouch..



Also on sunday it's getting a wheel bearing changed.

I used to get a grinding noise when turning sharp corners and Dom had pointed out the bearing seemed fairly dry..but now the grinding has gone and i get a squeaking/whistling instead when i'm driving normally..hoping it's still the bearing..otherwise i'm gonna have to check the brakes over even though they were only changed a week or 2 ago

Also, i can't decide on whether I want black indicator strips on the front instead of the orange ones or if i want some clear ones there..i think black will look smart since the new wheels are black, but the clear ones just tidy the whole front end up. Wil also be getting matching side repeaters

I like those wheels they do suit your car, I looked at some similar for Mine the other day I can't decide whether to refurb mine as they are or refurb them with the spokes and centres painted White or to change them altogether to some deep dish or White multi-spoked wheels.

Mines got clear indicator lenses on the front if you want to compare, black ones do sound interesting though.

Dished wheels look lovely on these cars believe it or not, there's quite a few on the owners club. These arent dished but on t'he rear there is quite a bit of a dish compared to the front.

I like the clear strips because they just make the whole front end look a lot tidier and neater, but i think the smoked jewel ones will suit the car with the black wheels and black side repeaters.
