Correct oil for VTS? For track car
How do all. What's best grade to use in my VTS track car?
Also, semi or full synthetic?
Regards

Semi is a basic choice for a track car, the hard use will make it break down very quickly. A full synthetic 5w-40 or 10w-40 is a much better choice.
Cheers

Tuners may know how to get the most power out of an engine, but they often know very little about oil. If they are saying that a 10w-40 semi is the best choice for track use, they know nothing about oil. Ask them why that's the best choice.

So what do you suggest? Is 10/40 semi not good for a track car? I use 10/40 semi on my hill climb saxo with 195bhp and the tuning garage said to use non ther then grade 10/40, in fact i use Total. They didnt specify whether it should be fully or semi synthetic though!

No need for a flush, just change. If you want to do a flush just change the oil, take it for a hard run and change it gain. That will do it.
Cheers

Any preference on weight? I only really do 2 15mile journeys a day then bits an bobs at the weekend. It's always warmed first mind an I keep an eye on my levels weekly, so would you use 5-40w or 10-40w? Cheers

from what i have been told 5/30 xtec comma oil is best for tracks as it runs hotter, thats what i have in mine at the mo but it runs very hot if you give it some shit. I used to have 10/40 full flow comma oil in it which was better for general use.

Seems there's a bit of confusion here.
Comma is basic oil, despite what they may print on the can, it's not a motorsport oil, it's bog standard.
5w-40 is a better choice that 5w-30 on track for most people as the 5w-30 will be a little thin when hot, so you don't get the best protection. Using a top quality thinner oil can be a way to squeeze an extra few bhp out, but it's done with a sacrifice of protection.
Motul X-Cess is a mid range oil, just over £30 to you guys for 5L, their 300V is mega expensive at about £30 for 2L.
Cheers
Tim
