Default How to install an aftermarket rev counter?

Hi,
Just bought an aftermarket rev counter.
I've tried to follow this guide:
http://www.saxperience.com/forum/sho...d.php?t=177153

And it does not work. I think that we have different ECUs.
I have 1997 Peugeot 106 1.4 (KFX).
It's Magnetti Marelli 1AP.

So what pin do i have to use? or where exactly in the coil do i have to connect it?
Thank you all.

Where to connect depends whether your new tacho requires a digital input, from the actual tacho output of your ECU or from the coil negative signal.
If it requires digiatl the number of pulses/revolution need to be set to 2 and if it connects to a coil negative you need to set it to 1.

I have option to set it to 4,6 or 8 cylinders. It is just regular tacho from ebay. I don't know if it analog or digital.
Anyway, i see now that I need pin 42 which is wire number 429.
I'll try that on Friday. Thank you.

There's not really such a thing as a 'regular' tacho, there are different types of the same thing some for direct coil connection and some digital for ECU connection. You might find that there are 'dip' switches or a resistor loop that allows different configs.
As a quick test you could try connecting it to the diagnostic socket.
Pins 4&5 are grounds. Pin 9 is the digital tacho signal and pin 16 is live.

A little update:
I wired the tacho to pin 42 in the ECU and it works.
Thank you all
