Best speaker system for bedroom - £200 Budget
What would you recommend I buy for my bedroom?
Got £200 to spend, looking at Companion 3 Bose Speakers at the mo.. All I want is a decent crisp sound, good bass and to be to plug my laptop/ipod into it.
Cheers.

OK my system's a few years old but i'm rocking:
M33i speakers:
http://www.superfi.co.uk/index.cfm/p...roduct_ID/2083
And a sony amp, i did have a proper decent yamaha amp but it got dropped and broke, sounded much better with the yamaha.
BOSE are really just a fashion/lifestyle solution, they are far from the best SQ for the cash.

I have some Bose companions in my room,
more than happy with them and fit just under £200 price tag.

Bose are very over rated, In the satellite's of the Companion 3 Bose Speakers the drivers cost $35 and they stick bose on it and sell it for £200.
You could go for something like these http://audioaffair.co.uk/index.php?a...productId=2090
and spend the rest on a sub?

the build quality and the design of the Bose's is nice though.
I have those Companion III's.
Admittedly they may seem overpriced, but theyre a nice looking, big branded product that sound good.

Yeh they do look nice and sound good just they are so expensive.lol. They are the best speakers that you can get in a normal shop (e.g Curry,Argos) and people with too much money buy there surround sounds.lol

a decent component system would over-rule the need for a sub
plus, to get staging right, its near impossible when a sub is in the system

Tbh i have NS-10's and i would love a sub for reference because below 60-70 Hz there is nothing so i would say that for general listening you are wrong but for critical listening you are right,

fair point
my KRK's drop to 50hz
which is pretty low for a 5" woofer
i can see your point on a general system,
but to monitor sounds, again as you say a sub just isnt neccassery

10% Voucher I was given at freshers fair, and they sell the ones that people send back after the 30 day trial (they're just reboxed ect..) for £179 instead of £199. Still get the 30day trial myself, and the warrenty ect..

Logitech Z5500 - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/74753
£25 over your budget, but so totally worth it.
My mate has them and even with the volume at half way the whole house shakes.

tbh... i have a samsung surround system... 5.1.... and the sound quality is great.... it has an all together wattage of 800w, cost me just short of 180, has a usb for playing back mp3's, pictures and video's, and able to play dvds via the built in dvd player...
i would seriously consider this as an option... as its an all round solution... but if you do choose this option... please dont go argos and buy some cheap shite... has to be a good branded setup...
