Default Fault code reading

So im looking to read any fault codes on my 2000 Gti (single plug), anyone know what tool/software i can use?

Only heard of lexia, but dont have a PC old enough to run it on if i buy it. So ideally looking for a modern alternative if they exist.

Failing the above, has anyone got something that can read codes in staffordshire?

The old Snap-On MT2500 'scanner' works fine with the right cartridge.

You don't need an old laptop. As long a you have a laptop from 2015 or newer, you can create a virtual machine using the free VMware Player or Virtual Box.
You do need a Windows 7 key and disc for a Windows 7 32 bit SP1.

I have chosen VMWare Player on my laptop and confirm it works for a MK2 Saxo.
For VMWare player, after creating the Windows 7 virtual machine, you must remove the default SCSI HDD and add the IDE HDD; happy to show how.

Have a look at eBay for a Lexia diag tool, I can share my VMWare Player with you, and then you can install the software after (make sure the diag tool you buy comes with it).

Alternatively, I can DM the diag tool I bought off eBay and I can share the virtual machine with the software already installed.
